Bocadillos - Crawl #21 Revisited

March was an eventful month of Crawls which included our visitors from the States joining us on a Revisit to Sacramento, the 4th Annual St. Pat's Crawl at Keg and Swan, and a visit to one of PE's newest coffee shops, The Tinker Bean.  Our visitors have returned to Arizona, and Crawlers Beth Vieira, Colleen Le Roux, Margaret Zoetmulder, Stella and Beryl Dawson, Sylvia Mynhardt, June Nash, Vicki Minnaar, Lee Rodwell, Nomusa Nkomo, Nicolette Hijmans, Elize Pretorius, Pierrette De Winne started the month of April with Crawl #21 Revisit to Bocadillos.

This Week's Crawlers
Vicki, June, Margaret, Lee, Pierrette, Sylvia,
Nicolette, Stella, Elize, Beryl, Nomusa,
Colleen, Beth

Coffee shops #18 (Blue Orange) and #19 (The Grove), both from June, 2011 are no longer in business as coffee shops, and shop #20 (Elyon's) will be addressed in an upcoming post.  So on to Bocadillos which we first visited on June 30, 2011.

In the years since the Crawlers were last there Bocadillos, located on 6th Ave in Walmer, has changed ownership, management and coffee brand with the new owner being Abel Esterhuysen, the manager, Allen Cannon, and Ciro being the new coffee served at the shop.  Despite all the changes Bocadillos has seen, the establishment has remained one of PE's favorite coffee shops.

Bocadillos' menu features breakfasts, lunches and light dinners while the bakery side of the business offers freshly baked artisan breads, cakes and pastries daily.....while they last!

Meet the Barista
Taba

Whenever I drive by Bocadillos it seems full to capacity regardless of the time.  Thursday's Crawl was no exception, even with the torrential downpour that PE experienced that morning....it's a good thing I made a booking!  There was a constant flow of patrons either waiting to be seated or standing in the queue to purchase bakery items.  The place was so busy, in fact, that I had little opportunity to take pics or to speak with the manager.  However, I did get to snap a quick pic of the barista, Taba, who just so happened to be our barista for our 21st Crawl back in June, 2011!  Glad to see you again, Taba....the coffees were delicious!

Bocadillos hours are Mon-Sat, 7:30 am - 9:30 pm; closed on Sunday.  To make a booking or to order bakery items call 041 581 1523 or 083 325 3636.

~Thank you to Manager Allen Cannon and the Bocadillos staff.
~Happy Birthday to my daughter-in-law, Maryanne, in Cleveland, TN - April 19
~Happy Birthday to my nephew, David, who is studying at Kent State - April 19

Until next time,
