Valley Harvest - Crawl #31 Revisited

I'm finally back and settled in after our incredible South African road trip.  It's hard to believe that a whole month has gone by since our last official Coffee Crawl on May 22 at Valley Harvest, 129 Fordyce Rd. in Walmer (corner Fordyce/6th Ave).

Love the hard wood floors!

Much has changed at Valley Harvest since our first visit in September, 2011, though you will still find locally made products, freshly baked artisan breads, frozen Valley Harvest menu items, gluten free products, and the ever popular Valley Harvest salad dressing all for sale in the store.  The most significant change is that the store area has been reduced in size to make room for more coffee shop seating.  On Crawl Day, Valley Harvest's new owner, Brenda Kritzinger, seated us in this new room at a long table near the beautiful fireplace.  With this new spacious area added, Valley Harvest now seats approximately fifty people inside along with the thirty seats available outside.

Brenda is very passionate about supporting local people and businesses in their respective endeavors.  In keeping with this local theme she has displayed in the shop works for sale by PE artists, has various local upstart musicians entertaining patrons on weekends from 10-1, and most importantly, offers Masterton's coffee on the menu, prepped by the loving hands of barista Trace.  Masterton's.....always the perfect accompaniment for breakfast or Valley Harvest's delicious baked goods!

Valley Harvest hours are Mon-Fri, 8-6; Sat-Sun, 8-3.  The shop is also available for private evening functions.  Call 041 581 3486 for take-aways, to make a booking, or for enquiries regarding after hour special events.

So, talk at the table on that gorgeous autumn morning in May started out with my telling of the puff adder that found its way into my kitchen a few weeks prior to our Valley Harvest Crawl Day.  Yes, you read correctly readers, a fully grown puff adder decided to slither into my house and stretch out comfortably in front of my oven.  Lou and a friend "took care of" our reptilian visitor but the incident has left me edgy at the house ever since.

This Week's Crawlers
Gail, June, Stella, Leanne, Lee, Beth,
Pierrette, Vicki, Beryl, Sylvia, Nicolette

Our conversation then went on to exercise and Pilates which included me giving a quick demo of one of the ab sets that my daughter, Liz, taught me.  The Valley Harvest Crawlers, Beth Vieira, June Nash, Leanne Waller, Stella and Beryl Dawson, Sylvia Mynhardt, Lee Rodwell, Gail Darne, Vicki Minnaar, Pierrette De Winne, Nicolette Hijmans, are now all about coming to my house for weekly workout sessions.....hopefully the snakes don't pitch!
